Welcome to the Hildegard Institute!
We are a tax-deductible, charitable foundation devoted to the promotion of music by women composers -- past and present. We support the Hildegard Chamber Players in performing this music, we help sponsor concerts by other groups, we help support the recording of such music, and we underwrite a competition for new music—administered by the International Alliance for Women in Music.
Music by women composers, especially works composed before the middle of the 20th Century, remain a much underused resource for solo performers, chamber groups, and orchestras. We want to help you find this music, play this music, and listen to this music.
